When the Light Spilled In

WHEN THE LIGHT SPILLED IN
 
Today when the light spilled in,
I thought of Dr King . 
I know his soul
is still yet
alive here in me, 
otherwise I would not be able to see 
beyond the edge of darkness. 
The dream was shared with all who cared to hear it.  
His life affirming words arced like lightning, 
then fell 
gentle as rain
spilled into the consciousness 
of us all. 

I  stood quietly today and gave thanks for the courage, clarity and grace of Dr Martin Luther King Jr.
